About

When I first stepped into the real world with a real paycheck, I noticed something. Money sitting in my checking account just sat there, while money I invested went out and got to work. So I ran the numbers, and what I found changed how I think about money: if I stuck with it, one day my money would be working harder than I do.

Today I have a family, and being financially responsible for my daughter is one of the most important jobs I have. For me that means staying ahead of inflation, the slow leak in every savings account, and investing with every goal on its own timeline. Some goals are only a few years away, like a new car or a house. Some are further out, like my daughter's college, which we're saving for in a 529 plan. And one is always on the list no matter what else is going on: retirement.

Who this is for

Money conversations are hard. They're awkward at the dinner table, stressful with a partner, and easy to put off until "later." But skipping them is like setting off on a road trip without your phone's GPS: you'll end up somewhere, just maybe not where you meant to go.

This site is for anyone ready to start having those conversations. Interactive calculators and real stories help you see how the pieces fit together, so you can set yourself up for success.

Mission

Take the mystery out of money. I want to break financial topics down into simple ideas, so you leave every article with something you can actually do, or at least a hunger to learn more.

Vision

More calculators, more stories, and a site people point to when someone asks, "Where do I even start?" If We Learn Finance becomes a resource others share to help their friends and family, that's the win.

A note on advice and ads

Everything here is for educational purposes only. I'm not a licensed financial advisor, and nothing on this site is financial, tax, or investment advice. Your situation is your own, so talk with a qualified professional before making big decisions.

The site shows ads to help pay for hosting and the tools I want to build next. It isn't meant to be a big money-maker. The ads just keep the lights on. Some posts may also have paid links, always labeled; ads and paid links explains how both work, and the privacy policy covers what they collect.
